About Us
Karen Ticktin founded brandthis in 1999 to consult on Marketing
and Communications, helping clients brand their brands. Clients
range from dot.com start-ups to major market medical institutions. Services
include strategic planning, brand positioning, competitive analyses,
naming, strategic and creative project management, agency searches,
and research development and management.
brandthis has a definite bias – a bias toward the consumer. With
consumers growing exponentially more comfortably ensconced in the driver’s
seat, this belief is held even more firmly. Whether it’s a simple
banner ad, an online word of mouth marketing campaign, or a fully integrated
marketing plan, brandthis always puts the consumer first and center.
This strategic underpinning drives both B2C and B2B projects as it is
our belief that the ‘trade’ are consumers too.
Before founding brandthis, Karen Ticktin had been involved in the branding and marketing of entertainment entities for close to twenty years. She spent the majority of her career at Showtime Networks, a Viacom company. During her tenure, she held a variety of positions, having risen through the ranks on the creative side only to be recruited to the marketing side of the business. Her experience was a unique blend of right brain/left brain, having honed both her brand strategy and creative management skills.
In her last position as Vice President of Brand Strategy and Advertising, she was primarily responsible for developing, defining and nurturing the Showtime Networks' brands in addition to overseeing all aspects of consumer advertising with a media budget in excess of $40 million dollars.
Karen resides in New York City with her husband Stephen, stepdaughter Caitlin and daughter Lacie, is a bit of a gym rat, and sits on the Board of Directors of City Harvest, an organization devoted to the rescuing food for New York's hungry.
